The Citizen Codex Research Fellowship supports independent researchers, creative developers and designers, and engaged citizens in pursuing data-driven work that drives meaningful societal impact.

Whether you’re investigating a complex social question, prototyping a civic tool, or exploring a community story, this fellowship is designed to help you move from idea to impact. Come with your ideas, curiosity, and skills, and we will support you in bringing them to life.

Fellows are selected through a pitch-led process: applicants propose a research story or question they wish to pursue, and successful pitches are developed into a funded fellowship engagement, with hands-on support from the Citizen Codex team.

This fellowship is designed to:

• Explore ideas that broadly advance the public good
• Support early-career and established academics, professionals, and researchers in producing impactful, evidence-based work
• Pilot new methods, tools, and narrative approaches that expand how data can inform public understanding
• Build an ecosystem of researchers aligned with Citizen Codex's mission

2. Duration & Timeline

Fellowship engagements are structured around the approved research pitch and final projects need to be scoped to fit the fellowship duration.
